The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Eviction Moratorium that has been in place and set to expire on March 31, 2021 has been EXTENDED through June 30, 2021.
Please be aware that the moratorium only applies if your loss of income and need to remain in your housing is directly related to COVID-19.
The eviction moratorium under the New York State COVID-19 Emergency Eviction and Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2020 is currently set to expire on May 1st, 2021.
It is important to remember that these moratoria do not cancel or reduce the rent that is owed to your landlord.
Please contact Westchester Residential Opportunities, Inc. and speak with our one of our housing counselors if you are currently in arrears. This Act does not change the arrears that are owed and you may qualify for assistance.
Note: If you are in breach of your lease for reasons other than pandemic-related financial or medical hardship you may still be evicted.
