Eviction Prevention

WRO provides eviction prevention grants to qualified renters, and relocation help for the homeless based on completing an application and providing documents. If we are unable to assist, a referral can be made for assistance from another agency. Clients MUST first apply at their local Department of Social Services office locations listed below or on the last page of application linked below.
 Upon receiving services you are required to attend a financial literacy

Please contact WRO to inquire about funds for:
• Rental arrears
• First month’s rent
• Security deposits
If you are facing eviction there are some steps you should take before scheduling an appointment for assistance. First go to the Department of Social Services for your city.
You will have to apply to the Department of Social Services for rental arrears assistance. If you are denied or need additional assistance please contact WRO to schedule an appointment with one of our housing counselors.

Utility Shut-off Prevention

WRO provides assistance to clients with a Con Edison turn-off notice. Terms of assistance vary. Applicants are required to complete an application and provide documents. The Con Edison bill has to be in the applicant’s name. Clients must first apply at the Department of Social Services for assistance.
