WRO’s board and staff mourn the loss of J.T. (Ted) Childs, Jr. Ted had a nearly 40-year career at IBM as a human resources executive and workforce diversity advocate. Ted was a leader at IBM and in the HR professional community on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
At WRO, Ted was a long-time board member, including 5 years as our board Chair. His family was also a beneficiary of WRO’s mortgage assistance. At WRO’s 2023 Gala Dinner, Ted was an honoree and the recipient of WRO’s inaugural Nick Beilenson Award, honoring the memory of WRO’s founder, who passed away in 2022.
Ted was a visionary advocate for equality. His leadership will be sorely missed.
